Hampta Pass Trek in June | One of the Most Popular Trek in India

Hampta Pass Trek in June is one of the most beautiful and enjoyable treks of the Indian Himalayas. It’s one of the treks that taking a reasonable amount of time (5–6 days), The altitude of this track is around 14000 feet plus, You will see many types of weather in this Trek. And this track is open only between June to September. If you like snow then you can go in June and enjoy the snow. it should definitely being in the top 10 bucket list for every Indian trekker.

It’s an overland journey. Which means You begin in the Kullu Valley, which is known for its verdant woods and bugyals (meadows), then you go to the strikingly different Lahaul Valley, which is known for its expansive, arid landscape with little vegetation. This provided me a much-needed opportunity to explore Lahaul as well. Although I had previously visited the Spiti Valley, I had never travelled to the neighbouring Lahaul Valley (Lahaul & Spiti are part of a single district in Himachal Pradesh).

I decided that I would do this track alone. While taking this decision, I felt a little scared. My family members and friends also said that how will my brother do alone? I had decided that I would do this track alone. So then I booked this trek from a company called Global Event and Travels. And the cost of this track is Rs 5500. The price depends on the service of the company. Every company provides different services, so they have different prices accordingly. But the maximum price of this track goes from ₹ 7000 to ₹ 7500. So my trek was from 5 Days 4 Nights.

So I booked Volvo bus from Delhi to Manali. I reached Manali early in the morning on Day 1 of the trek.. I had gone alone from home till Manali but when I reached the base camp in Manali, I met many people there. And all those people are very happy. We formed a group in which there were a total of 20 people. So we came to know from our trek leader that there is still some time to go for the drive. So I charged my mobile, charged my power bank and went to the market in Manali and enjoyed bread omelette there. Manali was so beautiful that I felt like leaving the track and roaming in Manali only. If you want to visit entire Manali then you will need at least 2 to 3 days.

Hampta Pass Trek Day-1 (Jobri to Chika)

So our journey started, we were taken to Jobri in tempo traveller — this is where the Hampta pass trek starts from. The road was a bit bad and also muddy. After reaching Jobri, we packed our Bags and headed towards Chika. On the way we got to see many waterfalls, rivers and there was so much nice greenery. So it took us 3 to 4 hours to reach Chika. And we spent our first night in Chika inside tents. That night stay in Chika was amazing. We had dinner there at night looking at the sky filled with stars

Hampta Pass Trek Day-2 (Chika to Balu ka Ghera)

The next day, we left Chika for Balu Ka Ghera (12,400 ft), The track on the first day was easy. But our real trek was going to start in Day 2. So we quickly headed towards our second destination which was the Baku Ka Ghera. So on the second day we climbed a lot and crossed a river and then reached the Hampta Pass Valley of Flowers. And we went there and had lunch.

After a lot of mountain climbing, going from altitude to high altitude (12,500.ft), we reached the Balu Ka Gehra and Suddenly everything changed like we were walking in greenery earlier there you felt like we were trekking in Ladakh.

By the time we reached Balu Ka Ghera it was around 5:30 in the evening. everyone was very tired But the view there and the cool breeze took away everyone’s fatigue. Then our track leader told that tomorrow’s climb is going to be very difficult and tomorrow will be our last climb. After that climb, we were about to enter Spiti Valley from Lahaul Valley.

So we all ate our food and we all went to our tents to sleep.

So we got up early and had our breakfast and left for the Hampta pass. This was our last climb, after this we had to descend.

Note: People say this track is easy, it is not at all, This track is moderate for those who have experience in trekking. It is going to be very difficult for those who are beginners in this track.

This climb was very, very hard. it was quite long too. Once I thought that I should go back and let it be, But the track leader supported me a lot and I finally reached the pass. After reaching Pass, I felt that if I had gone back, I would have missed a lot. The view was so good that I felt like staying here.

After that where we had gone from 12000 feet to 14000 feet, now we had to go down again from 14000 feet to 12000 feet. And I thought it would be easy to get down but the descent was as difficult as the ascent, By the time we started descending, it was raining more, due to which the soil had become wet and our feet had started slipping, so we were afraid that we might fall somewhere. But when the rain stopped, we saw such a beautiful rainbow that all our fear and fatigue went away.

So after a long track we came to Hampta Pass from Balu Ka Ghera and from Hampta Pass to Sehagoru. The third day was a very tiring day. When we reached Sehagoru, we kept our bags in our tent and after that we went straight to the kitchen where we had snacks. And our tent in Sehagoru was right on the river bank. Sehagoru view was very beautiful.

Hampta Pass Trek Day-4 (Sehagoru to Chatru to Chandratal to back Chatru)

We had finished breakfast early in the morning and set out for Chatru from the Sehagoru. The track of the fourth day was about 4 km and it wasn’t too hard either. We all had our lunch after reaching Chatru. After that we boarded the tempo traveller and set out for Chandratal. It takes about 3 to 4 hours to reach Chandratal from Chatru. The mountain road was so scary that I started feeling bad after just one ride. But that was the best ride of my life.

And we finally reached Chandratal. The view there was so beautiful that I just kept looking at it. We spent 20 to 25 minutes there click photos and make videos.

Chandratal Lake

After Chandratal, we started back for Chatru from where we had to leave for Manali the next day. It was already night by the time we reached Chatru. The interesting thing was that our dinner was ready and waiting for us. And after having dinner, we all went to our tents and slept.

Hampta Pass Trek Day-5 (Chatru to Manali)

On the fifth day, we all woke up in the morning and boarded the tempo traveler and set out back to Manali. From Manali we all left for our respective homes.

Note: Never forget to pack your rain ponchos, waterproof gloves, head-torch and extra pairs of socks while planning a high-altitude trek. Believe me, you will forever be thankful for these.
